Upon their newness of life, Tameeka’s husband encouraged her to enroll into Cairn University's Duel-Degree Program and acquire her Bachelor's Degree in Biblical Studies/ Master's Degree in Counseling, as well as learn more about her Lord and Savior; Jesus Christ. Indeed, Tameeka's desire for continuous studies is being fulfilled by the Lord; as it is written in the scripture, "Delight yourself in the Lord, and He will give you the desires of your heart" (Ps. 37:4). Tameeka embraces the thought, that learning about Jesus Christ is an everyday, throughout the day, life-long process.
Nevertheless, both her and her husband are students of Nouthetic Counseling, under the teachings of Dr. Jay Adams, at the Institute for Nouthetic Studies. Tameeka's life experiences compelled her to seek higher education and the highest standards in life. Tameeka's desire to serve others comes from her being influenced by her children; Shafaìr, Lonnale, and niece; Mayson--the driving force in her life. As a result of it all, becoming richly acquainted in the ways of Christ is a must for Tameeka, in hopes, her children would follow her as God allows her, to follow Christ.
Tameeka's focus in ministry is directly on the family unit . . . especially those with Autistic and Mental Health Disabilities. Therefore, with the guidance of the Holy Spirit, the instructions from Word of God, as well as wise spiritual insight from her godly husband, she remains steadfast; always abounding in the work of the Lord". Likewise, her objective is to lovingly share God's love . . . prayerfully help equip couples (as a Marri- age Counselor): married couples, struggling couples, or couples looking to understand the scriptures "more perfectly". Tameeka's desire is to teach Biblical truth, to encourage others to receive the gift of salvation, and live a life that is pleasing to God.
Tameeka was innately born with the spirit of an empath . . . misunderstood, misdiagnosed, and mistreated. She
always knew she was a peculiar child . . . but now, she knows that she is a "peculiar child of God". During her younger years, she was very curious, and developed a daily loving relationship with ants, and a profound respect for nature--the elements. Early on in life, Tameeka established a fondness for all of God's creation
in a most intimate manner.
Imagine with me for a few minute . . . a six year old girl, standing between what she called; "tree killers" and her favorite tree? While having a child-like tantrum, Tameeka tragically witnessed, tree trimmers cut down one of God's precious creations. Well . . . her appreciation for "her" tree that was in front of "her" home . . . is still a cherished memory.
Nevertheless, after all of what life presented to Tameeka; the good, the so-called bad, and the indifference . . . she gave it all to Jesus; who " . . . worked it all together for her good". When Tameeka was a teenager,
Ella Ruth (Tameeka's mother) sent her to live with her eldest sister; Carolyn LaJuan, for about seven years. While under the care of her sister Carolyn LaJuan, Tameeka gained class, was cultured, learned social etiquette, life skills, and Carolyn also challenged Tameeka with much encouragement to be different, think differently, and always be herself.
After God established her and her husband in Dortches, North Carolina, more of Tameeka's dreams became and becoming more of a reality. WORD WEAR -"The Clothing Line that Honors God"- conceived and created to produce products with beauty, elegance, and pizazz . . . but inexpensive.
Tameeka conceived the idea for WORD WEAR, Inc., after gaining a hearty and healthy appetite for reading the Bible. She thought; "if people would wear God's word, more people would see God's word more often . . . knowing that God's word will not return void, thereby people grow closer to God".
Nevertheless, like a fish that is placed in its right environment-in a good clean pond, swimming, breathing, and enjoying life, Tameeka is enjoying God's "green pastures" in Dortches North Carolina with her husband, who she affectionally calls, "Doc".
As God continues to prepare Tameeka for what is required of her--living a totally surrendered life in Christ;
the two of them as one flesh", have dedicated their lives to raise finances for Children with Autism and Mental Health Disabilities.
Surprisingly, Ferman noticed "all things started working together for his good" . . . first night in Holmesburg's prison, a Muslim inmate gave Ferman his very first Bible. Although, Ferman did not know the unknown Muslim; Brother Hassan helped Ferman get a cell next to the band-room. At Holmesburg's Prison, Ferman taught individual instrumental music lessons, developed bands, choirs, and assisted in providing in-prison musical entertainment for various events within the prison walls. As a result, the Correctional Institution provided Ferman with four years of weekly private lessons in Orchestration, Composing and Music Arranging; allowing him to continue his educational pursuits, under the tutelage of Tony M.
Prior to prison, diagnosed and discharged from the military with "un-served" mental health issues, which led to 38 years of homelessness. But while in prison, Ferman became the Vice President, President, and Chaplain of Vietnam Veterans of America, Chapter #359. Those ten years in prison was the best ten years of Ferman's life. He spent his jail-time with Jesus; gaining the correction and discipline needed, as God also prepared for his wife Tameeka.
Upon his release from prison in 2000, Ferman was received only by his daughter; Alyese. He and Alyese faithfully served in churches and communities, as music ministers, in youth ministries, as well as ministers of the gospel of Jesus Christ.
Although Ferman had an "inmate scholarship" to study God's word, there was an administration cost. He would not receive his Doctorate's Degree in Theology (1998), without money, because he was financially incapable, especially while in prison. But his daughter Alyese sacrificed, and paid his debt in full. In 2008, Ferman was finally ordained a minister, giving and receiving much help along his journey.
Then God brought Tameeka into Ferman's life, and his lost hopeful joy was restored for the fulfilling of Ferman's dream. In 1984, Ferman became well aware that God began a good work in him . . . God's promised to complete what He began.
God allowed Ferman to find Tameeka ("his Bible wife"), and as "one flesh" they compose, record, engineer, and produce musical compositions, helping each others' dreams to come to fruition. First, as children of God, husband and wife, and then as "TAMFERM".
Thankfully, and by the grace of God, Dr. Ferman and Tameeka, with their combined love for the Almighty God, their combined experiences, as well as their combined faith, have produced musical arrangements of psalms, hymns, and spiritual songs to express the love of God within them.
